My friends and family know not to ask my opinion if they don't want it. Now I don't just go around telling everybody what to do or how to do it, but if you ask, be ready!!! And I want people to be ready!! Not rude, or smart, just what I think or feel!

Works in real life too. If you take a moment to think before responding you not only appear wise and thoughtful of the person you are responding to, it is less likely you will offend anyone.

As for giving advice, I always warn the person asking if they are really wanting honesty and I give them a chance to change their mind. That tells the other person you are honest and trustworthy and you are fair.

It's not just Georgians. I live here and have for almost 14 years, but I am a Floridian. Yes. I have this too. So does my MIL, she is a Canadian, we also way if you don't want to know don't ask her........
