This is the first year I have ever had Ameraucanas,I don't know anything about them really.Would the 4th one from the front be considered Lavender? Thanks Will
krista, that's a beauty! Looks like a girl to me... way to go!
Will, I think yours is blue, as in andalusian blue, blue black and splash kind of blue. Look at the feathers for a dark outline, and a dark shaft up the middle of the feathers. If they look like that, it's blue.

Do all blues have dark outlines and a dark shaft? I have a 7wk old chick that I am trying to figure out if she is a lavender or blue splash... She's much lighter than Will's chick though? I'm new to chickens and still trying to figure out the differences between blues and lavenders....
Wow,that is really light.I guess mine is blue.I don't know much about them.I got them for my kids. They are like 25 weeks old and no eggs yet.Kids are kinda bummed. They are gentle so they are still nice to have around. They didn't come from a breeder.I got them from a lady who bought them from a hatchery. We don't show chickens,we just like them for leasure. We raise our own meat and I always like to have egg-layers for the kids to enjoy even after processing time. Thanks for the help. Will
