I got 2 buff Orpingtons 3 wks ago. Unfortunately 1 passed, the other is thriving yet still looks to be maybe a WK old. Any thoughts on this?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow Some are runts but usually grow up eventually so as adults you can hardly tell them apart, if at all. Just make sure it stays on starter/grower feed until it crows or lays and it should be okay.

Might be a FTT (failure to thrive) chick. Chicks that live usually grow up to be normal sized chickens, but I have seen a few cases where the birds stay small their whole lives. Dwarfism is a thing in chickens, but those birds are usually small with short legs, instead of being normal proportionated and small.
