I’m a Silkie addict

I just hatched Mottled, Paints and Millie’s from a fantastic breeder. 14 hatched and made it.

I just got an order of a mottled eggs and Crele eggs and...

tomorrow comes my order of chocolates.

(I also just hatched Easter Egger frizzles.)

Someone needs to take charge of my bank account 🤣. The other day my son told me I spend all my money on my chickens... and he’s right lol.

I also just paid to have my run extended. The price of lumber is ridiculous. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Anyway, here’s some pics so you can see why it’s totally worth It

You are definitely my crazy chicken lady role model!

You make me feel much better about my impulse buy of three full-sized Cochin chicks (when I only went to the feed store for cat food) and the intended purchase of more chicks three weeks later because my friend works at one of the hatcheries, is about to quit and had the soon-to-end ability to get whatever I wanted without minimum order or shipping charges.

Honestly, I only asked for four, and she brought five. So, not my fault, right? The newbies (and yes, all are being brooded in my upstairs "spare" room) are a Bielefelder, a Columbian Wyandotte and three Cochin Bantams.

I have already enlisted some help to build the new coop. My yard looks like a complete poultry village as none of the coops or waterfowl shelters has more than six residents, and there are 32 birds outdoors and the eight who will move there.

Plus, there is an accidental house chicken who hangs around outdoors during the day in nice weather but comes inside at night. I think her giant dog crate adds a certain charm to the dining room. And, I can gather a daily egg for breakfast without stepping outdoors.

If you ever need moral (or chicken-buying) support, I'm here for you!

Poultry village 🤣. I feel the same! I have 5 dozen eggs to hatch still 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Great photos!
So, now I do not feel so bad with 4 chicks in the living room, 4 two month olds in the tractor, 10 adults in the coop, 14 eggs in the incubator and a hatchery order scheduled for next week....🤣🥰

Cool silkies. Are silkies cold hardy, the silkies with full fluff? Have read that they are cold hardy but then also they aren't, seeing as they are fluff not feathers Yad think if they got wet wouldn't get dry as easy ect..

Your cuties look like they are living the good life but I must warn you, the initial investment only compounds over time as you discover new and interesting ways to make the floofs even happier. Definitely a trap! 😄
Oh believe me I already know it 🤣. All the money has been going to the floofs. 🤣
