I think I have another rooster!?!

When I pick up chicks I usually get 2-3 more of any given breed than what I wanted - this is because if you get just one you are all but guaranteed to lose the "sexing oops lotto", especially if it is a breed you really, really want.  Having a few increases the chance of getting at least one actual pullet and the extra birds can be sold off as their gender becomes sure and you narrow your favorites out of the bunch.  This can also be helpful if you are looking for birds with particular markings as you can keep the best marked and sell off the rest.
