Back story: I've got a blue rock girl has gone broody. So I ssid wht the heck I'll let her set! She only has two eggs under her and it's been three days.

Sooooo, I tried candling. All i could see dot and what looked to be the yolk floating at the top, I thought that meant it was infertile? So I cracked one of the two open to see what was what. And i found this:

Commonly most people wait until days 7 - 10 to candle. Sometimes you can't see anything until then. The earliest I have ever seen anything on a chicken egg is day 3-4 and that was a small, white egg.

that's what i wanted to know. Thanks! I will leave the other egg under her and not touch it until next week!

sorry i'm not reallys sure, but when you open an egg how can you tell if it's fertile or not??

Put a few more eggs under her because if the egg doesnt hatch she will be mad, and if it hatches alone the chick might be a loner. I had this once happen to me. It turned out to be a insane chicken.
