I THINK I NEED TO HELP A CHICK----HELP!!!

What is the best way to help a chick who started pipping about 19 hours ago and hasnt even started zipping. Seem his efforts have slowed and I am concerned that he is dying.

How do I help?

That's a hard call to make. My first hatch... my first to pip was LAST to hatch. They like to rest between stages of hatching. It is possible that it may need help..... but, if it is NOT in need of help, you risk causing it more distress... (I caused one of mine to die by helping it

Never again for me) and you have to decide if you want a chick that is possibly not as strong as the ones who hatch on their own.

If you decide to help you can carefully peel back little bits of shell from the pip. STOP if you see ANY blood! But... if it's breathing or chirping... I'd leave it.

I just finished helping one of mine, he pipped yesterday morning. She is alive but now I have a weak chick to worry about. I will not help again if they don't make it chances are something is wrong.
