my kid was 11 when we got chickens. Let’s just say my kid has been crazy for them too. No birthday parties for them, but a few are particularly spoiled (secret individual trips to the lush clover patch, for example) chickens in our flock.
Now the kid has several trophies with chickens on top bc shows chickens at the county fair through 4-H, and has won a few categories here and there over the past few years. We laugh bc last year won “Grand Champion” for all breeds, AND won “Grand Champion” for a dozen eggs. The egg trophy is quite huge-bigger than the breed trophy, so that makes us laugh bc it’s for a dozen eggs (but the eggs did look very uniform and checked off all categories).
