I transfered my babies to a container to clean out the brooder and once I put them back in it looks like one of them has a hurt leg. It can't move very well and I don't know what to do. I put it in a separate container in the brooder for now to see if it can get better but I don't know. It lays there with both legs out to the side. I think it may have gotten smashed by all the others while it was in the container. What can I do for it?

With a quail you are doing all you can. They are small buggers.

Keep it warm with food and water accessable.

Quail are tough little birds. I squeezed one's neck in the door
of my brooder. It looked dead. An hour later it was up and about.

What kind of bedding do you have in the container?

Does it have good footing?

Sometimes if you use something slick like newspaper, it can lead to foot troubles.

I have pine shavings down. I know this happened while I was cleaning out the brooder. I had them in a tuperware bowl since there is only 15 of them. Can they get splay leg after they've been fine for a few days?
