I think my chick has Mareks disease now what

I am by no means an expert, but maybe your chicks caught something from the chicks that you picked up from the farm? Maybe the chicks from the farm were exposed to something that their mother was carrying?

About a week later I got a de’ uccle and 2 silkie chickens from a farm that were being raised by a mother hen.
Very likely a possible source of ANYTHING. :hmm The carriers aren't always the ones who succumb.

So was that broody still raising her chicks happily and the "farmer" stole them from her before she weaned them herself? (if so, I can't stand people who do that for no REAL reason). I did take 2 chicks from a broody recently since I was suffering heavy predation loss. It was a matter of life and death for them and she already lost half her chicks to a hawk. So I figured if it was me the hawk. :barnie

But people who use their hens as brooding money making machines without thought to the birds own health or mentality are just despicable Stew Pidasso's. :tongue

No ugliness directed at you. I bought chicks once only to discover after it was too late that they were stolen from their mum. :rant

Please forgive me for rehashing details...

So your first chick loss was at 1 week old, and was one of your hatchery/feed store chicks, before you got the ones from the farm? That was definitely NOT a Marek's loss. And most likely shipping stress in addition to possible genetic issues that sometimes don't present right away at hatch. Maybe some sort of absorption issue, that took a period of time before its' toll got to high? Things really do just happen sometimes. In addition, a pasty butt can be missed easy and is deadly very fast... regarding possibilities for first little one, and NOT pointing fingers in any way.

And so, it was about 1 week after getting the farm chicks that this one has presented with paralysis? That would be a good indicator that whatever is going on might NOT be related to the farm chicks... even though most everybody including myself would like to point the finger that direction. It after all IS an easy scapegoat...

Is your starter/grower feed medicated? Notice any "off looking color" in the crumbles? Mold from the factory or anything like that? Mill date?

I didn't catch if you were in the states or not. If so, here are some helpful links to get solid answers, should this chicky baby not make it...

I almost suspect some sort of failure to thrive, with the details of this case being the first time I have seen this scenario. I wish I could be more help, but I sure appreciate you sharing your challenge and an opportunity for us to possibly learn something new.

This is a chicken sling example, to allow for getting weight off the legs and possible stretching...

Poultry Cell 1 ml daily would be a good one to use,
That looks like a good product. Mind sharing which you prefer between that one and Nutri Drench and why?
