I think my duck may be sick

In the picture she actually looks ready to go back outside. I'd get her out to be with others.
I think so too. Her leg has healed up well. She's not limping anymore and her feathers have grown back beautifully. I just didn't have the heart to give her up during Christmas. I was planning on taking her out there in the 1st or 2nd week of Jan. depending on her breathing issue.

Only thing you and new owners will have to watch for is the 3 that already live at the farm might not take to her right away and they may pick on her or try to run her off. So it is always a good idea to set up a see no touch pen when no one is around and let them all be together when you are that way picking which might not amount to much anyway but if it did you will be there to break it up. Hopefully it won’t take long for her to be accepted. Maybe if your not sure your ready to let go yet sounds like your pretty attached, you could take her out to the farm and see how she does then make your own decision on whether it’s time to let her go. I am sure you’ll make the right decision for her.
Thank you for telling me that. I wouldn't have thought of introducing her to them slowly and the new owners don't know a lot about ducks either. They don't have a lot of experience with poultry. Their 3 ducks were rescued like mine and came together.
I think I will do that and see how she responds to being on the farm. Even if that place doesn't work out, I think I should find her someplace outdoors to live. It's better for her. :)

I don't have experience with ducks but I just wanted to say that you're a very sweet person to rescue her and I am moved by how sensitively you've cared for her. She's a lucky duck to have been found by you.
Aww thank you. That's really kind of you to say. I'm doing my best with her. It's been a humbling experience. :) :)

I think if you go slow when introducing she'll be accepted. Sometimes a flock will look at a newbie as an interloper and try hard to make life miserable then other times they will just accept so you'll be there plus the friends to make sure it goes well. Just don't let her go somewhere where she won't be fed and cared for, I don't think you will but it happens a lot over here in the USA people will take their ducks out to a pond or lake or park and just let them go thinking they be able to survive and most of the time they don't. from all you have said in your thread I don't think you'd do that, I just hope that it all goes well when you begin intros. Please keep us updated. Lets see @onaharley and @CayugaJana both have Pekins maybe they have seen this breathing in theirs hopefully it isn't something to worry about. What bedding are you using with your duck? I do know from reading others who have Pekin that they tend to over heat pretty easy.

Oh so sorry your bird in trouble I'm.no expert in ducks or geese but sounds like a respiratory Infection to me

Do u have any medicine avail
You can fine Enrofloxacin 10% easily
:goodpost::goodpost::goodpost::goodpost:
Duck, geese, chickens, it's all the same really when it comes to one with respiratory issues.

I'll go out on a limb and say that if a duck pants when it is 24 degrees c that it probably has something going on. Note that open mouth breathing and panting look similar, so I would like to see a video of this duck in a cool room so we can determine if it's open mouth breathing or panting.

I will try to stay as long as possible to make sure it all goes well and the family friends are a retired couple who are home all day with their animals so there will be someone to keep an eye on her. I'll let you'll know how it goes. :)
Unfortunately, it is the same over here with people not taking care of their pets the way they are meant to or just abandoning them. I've known these people for a really long time and their ducks were rescued by them. I've seen their ducks and other animals and they look well taken care of. And I plan to go back a few times after to make sure she's being looked after well. If not, I'll bring her back home.
I've got some old cotton bedsheets that I'm using for bedding right now. It may not be ideal but she really likes it. She also spends a lot of time on my doormat. The whistling sound and panting haven't stopped as yet. And she's been sneezing this morning after her bath. :(
