If you want to see if you can find out what happened, a necropsy would be in order.
Some of us do our own informal necropsy at home, if you feel up to doing that, then post some photos of what you see.
UC Davis is your state lab, so you could also send the body for necropsy if you want to find out more.

Thanks everyone. It actually happened really quickly and within hours she was gone. She had a really happy life A super silly girl She gave me a lot of joy! Goodbye to my little Ava!

Yeah, especially her. I used to be able to bring her and her sister to different places in a carrier and let them run around because they always come right back to me.
