I have 13 hen,one banney roo,and one large Dorken roo.2 weeks ago I noticed the banney roo and several of the girls have runney noses, sneezing, raspy clucking, and gurgle when they breath. The little roo tries to crow and it just comes out as flem, sqeecks, and a crackle. Is this serios and what should i do.

Is there a bad smell at the nostrils? any eyes bubbles or runny eyes ?

search the symptoms - the birds will always be carriers even if you cure them with anibiotics-
you cannot get new birds or give birds away- you need to isolate the sick ones
possible culling
it is terrible - some have lost entire flocks

hugs.gif

have you introduces any new chickens lately ?

some possible infections corza - infectious bronchitis(sp) I cannot reme, mber all the ones I've seen
- i was stupid and did not isolate new birds I brought in -I learned thehard way - I have had to cull some of my hens
I hope that I have stopped the spead of the disease- but in order to stiop in and hopefully save some I will cull - it is the hardest thing if have even done

they can be made better no more symptoms but as you will read always carriers

olive oil?!!!!

this is very serious. Respiratory illness from Bacteria or virus..
whenever these symptoms show..treat ASAP..

any swelling of wattles? or head? eyes?
does the flem smell bad?

Tylan 50 injectable and syringes or Erythromycin (Gallimycin, sometimes called Ery-mycin)
found in LIVESTOCK section in feed/farm/livestock stores.
VetRX..rub a dab inside roof of mouth
Oxine might help (available at link)
poultry vitamins
eye ointment (terramycin available at feed store)..other kinds available at link below.

2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 1 gallon of drinking water can help loosen the flem.

possible eye treatment (wash eyes with eye wash and treat with antibiotic eye ointment..and sinus flush..
