HE gets on to me about the chickens and my time on BYC well last night I went into the other room to watch TV and he was on the computer I had left BYC up as I was planning on getting back on........... well he peeked I can tell from the posts with no chickies. Then yesterday I had to send him to pick up a milking station I had bought at a Garage Sale and he comes home with a chicken less then 1 hour after we had come home with 9 more chicks. Then he got to talking about getting more chicks from Ideal? Not sure what got into him but he is scaring me.

OT got a milking station and a pastuerizer for 40 bucks.

Husbands can be so funny. Now he probably thinks it was all his idea.

LOL what a fun tale! Speaking of fun tales, yesterday DH made a perch and a removable dowl to keep the big girls out of the "in-law" (or ex-in-law) apt so its just for the bantam cochins now!!!!
I tell ya, for never wanting hens, he is certainly the builder of preditor safe housing!!! (and even mentions not knowing what we would do without them!!!)

So smile, let your hubby to think it was all his idea, life is easier that way!

It was actually my husband's idea to get the first 8 hens that we got. That was a few months ago. He was less than enthused when I told him I wanted more. I wanted to get started pullets but couldn't get them in the breed I wanted this time of year. So, I ordered some chicks. He wasn't really onboard with the idea. When I told him I'd placed my order he gave me a stern look and asked, "how many did you order?"

Now, he's spent the last two evenings working on the chicken tractor that I started by myself. He goes down in the basement and talks to the chicks, and checks on them, a few times a day. He did tell me that I might as well spoil these chicks because I'm not ordering any more for a long time.

How true! My DH gives me a hard time about my chickens but, I see him sneaking to check on them and any project done for them he wants to improve beyond the basics. It really got him this spring when we redid the run that we couldn't make it bigger due to space issues. I reminded that him he won the battle on where to put the coop and he got real quite and said, "I know".

Even though my DH complains about the incubator running for months, I catch him peeking on hatch morning to see if any have hatched

. He checks the humidity periodically and when he's outside, he makes sure everyone is fed and has water
