I processed our first chick on Mother's Day ( https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=500871&p=1 ) with my 6 year old and 4 year old twins...we have two more chicks to do this weekend and this is the note my son left on my computer last night....he was upset that I (Jaime) was being "lazy" and have waited so long to process the other two! I'm glas they had so much fun and I will defintely be saving this note to show him when he gets older!!

I don't think that's creepy or weird. My 5 year old daughter is the same way. I think it's great that our kids actually know where their food comes from, and I don't mean from the store or McDonald's. The other night when my DD and I where feeding the meaties, one of them looked like it was getting ready to flip. She looked at it, without me saying a word mild you, and said, "Dad, we better butcher that one up before we waste it." LOL So we did, and had it for supper the next night. I guess I am teaching her well.

I say good for you for getting them involved, and good for them for wanting to be involved.
