Think is the key word there. BB is my only hen not laying, she is one of two RIR hens/pullets I have (they are almost 10 months old). She has smaller combs, she is the runt and was extremely sickly until I boosted her up and fed her up for about two weeks. Today she was hanging around the coop a fair bit but nothing more than usual it seemed. Later on I found a small and skinny sort of egg. It seemed very small in comparison to my SLW eggs and especially my RIR eggs. So I suspected it was a first timer egg. Then this evening I decided to take a quick look at her vent. That was how I figured out who my first layers were. Their vents looked different than the other pullets. I know it seems a bit odd picking a chicken up and just looking at it's butt, however I picked her up, then I picked up her sister to compare. She looked like her sister! I could be tricking myself in my desperation for an egg from her but I think she may have finally done it! I'll be keeping a close eye on the flock for the next few days to see if I see her in a nest box!
