But Big White is the only hen to have it? Does this make sense. I am getting all the ingredients today to fix her...but why is it only her.
I will post pics when I get home from work.

thanks everyone....

If you are very lucky, she may be the one to have picked up a single pest. One thing you can do is to lightly coat her legs with Bag Balm, letting it absorb and not getting her feathers damp. Actually, I'd do the whole flock!

Yup, I`d do the whole flock also. Actually any kind of oil will drown the little suckers, from WD40 to used motor oil. Also it`s a good idea to spray their roost with WD40 as leg mites hide in the wood.........Pop

I would also like to see a pic of it. I htink I have a hen with it but it is only one and it may just be the way her ankle area looks. It hasn't spread on her legs at all and no other hen has it.

I read somewhere that vaseline works

pics coming later this evening...I promise.

How old is she?

My Lt Brahma's legs kind of look the same, but she is coming on 4, and has lots of pin feathers on her legs that make it look scaly, but isn't really.

I bet treating the flock's legs, though, wouldn't hurt anything!

she is just shy of 12 months old. A hatchery chicken, I hope it is just the breed...she has me a little worried.

I offered my friend to come help me treat the chickens, instead of going on holiday, She declined lol
