I think my roo has a crush on me...lol

My Silkie rooster follows me like a puppy and crows his head off when I go inside. He is very satisfied when I am outside with him. when I sit down I think he is flirting with me when he walks sideways back and forth in front of me and pecks at my feet. I reckon he thinks I am a big hen !

Any one else have a rooster that acts like this?

Our young chickens who we raised from chicks act like that. There are four hens, one roo left. Every time one of us goes to the barn they will stand on our feet, follow us around, and gaze up at us adoringly. Same thing, all our roos will crow or cackle when we go away. I think chickens imprint easily, and, after all, we do have two legs, just like them!

My buff Cochin, Chicken Hawk, was rescued by me days before death. She was in the house for about two months, had several vet trips, and travelled with us when we went away for the weekend.
She is now happy, healthy, and part of the flock, but will stand outside the sliding glass door and watch my every move! She also comes when I call her.
DH and I eat outside during the summer and she is always right under my feet (maybe it has something to do with the tomatoes and rice I throw under there!

).
I do think they imprint easily and they know who saved them. I have a mare that is the same way. I really believe that all my rescues understand that they ARE rescues and they are grateful for that.
And in your case, I believe he knows you are the one that loves and feeds him.

I have a little bantam rooster that does the same thing. When I let him out of the coop in the morning, he runs in circles in front of my feet, pecking my shoes until I pet him, or pick him up. At night I'll pick him up and he'll run up my arm and sit on my shoulder crowing, nibbling my earrings, and playing w/ my hair. Sometimes I have to take him off of my shoulder and make him go to bed. He's sooooo cute!

I wish my little rooster were this sweet. I can pick him up after I chase him. He isn't aggressive in my arms. But he can be quite typically "cocky" (pun intended). Tonight I went in to be sure everyone was bedded down and he ran out of his little cubby and bit me on the top of the foot, earning himself a swift kick and a promise to be put in a pot if he doesn't stop that nonsense. He only does it occasionally but it smarts and I don't know whether I will continue to tolerate it or not.

Well, now my roosters little mate joins him on my shoulder.

It's amusing.

They actually fell asleep on my shoulder tonight. I had to force them to go into the coop to go to bed. Weird chickens

I'm glad to know that I am not the only one! My guys have settled in very happily (rescued from the woods in a dump situtation in December) and they both are attached to me in different ways. The younger one likes to dance for me and tries to keep the older one at bay. The older roo likes to tell me about good things he finds to eat and will sometimes let me hold him. If I have to run somewhere outside they will both run as fast as they can behind me, which makes me laugh. I want hens but I have a hard time imagining them being as fun as these two.

Lucky loves to sit in my lap in the morning while I read the newspaper and drink my coffee. This morning he climbed up my arm and onto my shoulder, then tried climbing onto my head. I bent down to get him off and he got tangled up in my hair.
