I think my Welsummer is a Brown Leghorn

Darn! I will eave Welsummer in my sig until she lays an egg. What age do both breeds start laying?

Welsumer females have a reddish tint to them compared to a brown leghorn, which mbleilys picture show quite nicely!

A friend of mine has both breeds and the reddish tint on the welsumer pullets makes it easy to distinguish the two.

i'm not sure what she is but i have one that looks very similar. i bought a pair of started chicks that originally came from a feeds store. i have a welsummer hen and a pullet that is supposed to be welsummer also but is much lighter in color. i can't see any white ears. they look like golden salmon marans. the roo has a couple little feathers between his toes. i will be happy if they are either but would like to know so that i can say what eggs/offspring they will have. good luck.
