Well i think my little white china girl Lucy might have laid her first egg today!!! These are my first geese and she is about 8 - 9 months old. I called everyone in for feeding time and miss Lucy had a weird saggy belly ( Like an empty egg belly!!!) So im really hoping she laid an egg!!!

Now. Here is my problem. More than likely its somewhere across the street at my enighbors pond

How do i encourage her to lay closer to home? I currently have a muscovy hen brooding on the side of the barn and i have plenty of hay over there as well as a few dog houses. Ideas???? I have an enclosure that my geese grew up in but i dont think i he=ave the heart to lock them up . I mean i guess i could lock them up at night ( they free range ) but im worried they might start resenting me and stay across the street because they know ill lock them up at night. But i really want those eggs!! WHat to do?!?!?

I don't have ducks, but my chickens stay in the run/coop until all eggs are laid, then I let them out to free-range. I don't think they will resent it; I think it will become a matter of routine & something they get used to, however you choose to do it.

This is my first time with geese, I "rescued" these three at the begining of last june when they were abotu 3 weeks old. I heard that geese are very sensitive to change

Thats why im worried.

And Im almost positive she is laying now. Lots of weird behavior from both ganders and Lucy herself.

Well one - 2 months, lol, im not sure exactly.

And im pretty sure she has. She stays across the way at the pond, even when i whistle for dinner time, she has the saggy egg pouch, and the boys have trouble leaving her side, even when i call for them. They will come over, eat a few pieces of corn and SPRINT back to the pond and the waiting Lucy! No flying across like usually, no leisurly pace, SPRINTING!

I have a 9 month old White Chinese goose too. I am still waiting on the first egg. Sometimes I doubt she is even a female. She and my Brown Chinese gander have similar sized knobs. ( I got them straightrun from Metzer Farms). I noticed they are both starting to get that ''egg pouch'' look. So,

. Does anyone have a pic of a female White Chinese knob?
