I think they're females?

Hey everyone

New to the peafowl forum, but not to BYC.

I was hoping to not have to ask for help, but now I'm a little worried that all 3 are female and looking for some hope that one is male.

All 3 are about 3 months now. India blue. Their neck feathers look female. And they don't have really any barring on the backs except for the one to the right of the picture. Even then it is not much. I'm partially color blind so it's hard for me to tell of there is any color coming in on their wings.

I thought I would be able to sex them after reading so much info on here, but now with all 3 looking pretty similar and not seeing any definite distinction between them, I'm sorta questioning my sight.

Have experience with chickens and guineas, but new to peafowl. Thank you for yalls help.

Thank you. I was a little worried about that. I guess I will be on the look out for a male around their age. Got enough space for 7 or 8 but don't really want to roll the dice on more hens. And I think 4 is a pretty good number

Might I make a suggestion, hens will mature earlier than roosters and usually start laying eggs at the age of 2. Roosters however are not considered sexually mature until 3 years of age although there are some people that have had success with a 2yr old rooster but there is no guarantee until they 3yrs of age. If your planning to raise more I suggest waiting until these are a little older (few months) and finding a yearling rooster to match them up with as this should increase your chances of a successful hatch when they are mature,

That actually sounds perfect. That would give me plenty of time to locate a rooster and get things all figured out
