Had to do something during the moment. He was activity attacking my wife, who has walked past him and the ladies hundred's of times. I grabbed him to stop the attacks. If he sees me as a threat at that time, that's a problem.They have good memories and he probably sees you as a threat now. Putting him on his back will not help and isn't safe. Search for the article on dealing with and training agressive roosters for a better approach.
The thing is the gals were no where near my wifeI think he was attacking you because he thinks you want his hens. There is a great rooster article on rooster behavior by @Shadrach . I’ll see if I can find it and link it here. It might be helpful for you if you get another rooster.
