i thought i killed them all, have chick update new pic

i ordered another bator and it should be here tomorrow. i was sick of killing them, so i bought the 1588 and was going to use this lg still are just for a hatcher for my next batches. it is taking alot longer for my new bator to get here. it is ok to move my eggs into the other bator, after i have it running for a while, with out hurting anything, right? it won't be for a couple days, so it really has nothing to do with this hatching egg, just in general. i would like them to be in the better bator.

Moving them should be fine !! Just get the temp and hum stable and then move !!

And dont be so hard on yourself about killing them, not your fault !!

What do you keep you temp and hum at day 1-18 ?

it would go between 100 to 101.5 and hum stayed about 30 to 39. i didn't get the different therm/hydro til a few days in. then i wondered if it was right. i had three diff things in there and they were all of one was by like eight degrees. the one i was using first. so i think we started low to begin with. but then when i set what was left in cartons, temp was up to 104 when i got home from work. (about 4.5 hours) that was the last i saw movement in the others......i am glad i was only ruining eggs out of my coop and not ones i bought.

I agree...don't be so hard on yourself. Were they shipped eggs?

I had a whole batch of penedesenca eggs, 14 total. None hatched. 4 were scrambled, 2 were unfertile, 1 pipped upside down but died in the shell (I couldn't see that it pipped before it was too late), and the others died very early in the process. I did everything right...humidity, temp, everything. The eggs were shipped, and when they arrived, I had a bad feeling about the hatch. Sometimes it just happens.

You will love the 1588. I have two of them. If you can, get the auto turner. It makes things much easier.

Good luck with your chickie. Keep us posted!!

i got the turner friday and had them ship it priority it should be here by the time the temp is set. i should have got them together but i didn't want to spend the money. then i thought about it more and more. i figured i would do carton method but this way i it would be ok if i didn't make it home during the day. i hope i have some good hatches now that i will be all set up. but not too many good hatches, lol it is going to be snowing here soon.

I have a turner in one, and use the other as a hatcher. But, now I've got 42 eggs set in one and 6 eggs set in the "hatcher". Now I have to handturn those 6. Uuugghh. I hope I don't forget!

Just remember, the 1588 is a forced air, so you will want to drop your temps. You probably knew that, but just wanted to make sure.

It is preset, and the directions suggest how much water to add for humidity. But, I can't add that much water or my humidity goes sky-high. I even had to play with the temp a little. But, just get thru your first hatch and monitor everything, then make adjustments from there.
