Thanks Callender Girl. I had 12-15 for an initial flock in mind when I placed a chick order back in February. I confess to having poor impulse control. When I went in a feed store the week my chicks were set to arrive to get their feed, they had baby chicks. Needless to say, I walked out with more than supplies. I got 4 EE pullets, also. My mother kept them for years and loved them. I expect I will give her a few of these birds once I get them to the 8 or 10 week stage. I'm trying not to name them all because once I name them I can't let go.
I've been a heritage breed fan in the past too, but I like the look of the Amberlinks and I am looking to them to keep up the egg supply. I sold a few eggs locally for several years; just enough to support my chicken habit. I was never able to keep up with the demand and I am looking to them to bolster production next spring. I'll let you know how they do.
