I thought it was all my fault

Hubby and I went to see a movie tonight. The coop was open until about 10 or so. I did a head count - I was one cockrel short. I looked around the perimeter of the coop, under, behind feeders, under the hen ladder - everywhere. I thought this has to be my fault - I shouldn't have let them out! I then counted again. Still one short and I know it's a white rock cockrel. I flip the flashlight up and there he is! Roosting with the girls! It was hilarious. Here these three fat hens are and my 6 week old cockrel all in a row on the roost. My silly chickens all cram together on the roost, even though there is 24' of roost. That little cockrel was cuddled right up with them! Whew!

I did the same thing one night. Only my coop and pen was locked up tight with no way for them to have gotten out. They weren't on the usual roost, they decided to try the rafters that night.

I just went out to open the coop and walk in the run and one lone chickie is sitting there on the ground

I left one chickie out last night and it sprinkled this morning. She wasn't really wet or anything but she was mad as an ol'wet hen when I went to pick her up. I feel so guilty, I counted heads and thought all were in. I hope she will be ok. She's running around and happy to be back with her sis's and bro's.

My stupid hens all hang out in the rain. They just look so pathetic wet - I have no idea why they didn't go into the coop or under the deck. Your poor guy had no choice.
