I thought it was Bumblefoot but it isn't

My hen, a five year old Black Australorp, has had Bumblefoot before, a few years ago and I treated and dealt with it and she got better. Still a dark scab always remained on her feet.
The other day I noticed her limping a little so I checked her feet and one of them had a bigger pad than normal. Not hard, fairly squishy but I thought it must be Bumblefoot. So I prepped her for treatment, soaked her foot in the Epsom salt water and then I carefully peeled the old scab off with a pair of sterilized tweezers. Immediately something poked out, but not puss like I expected. Instead of appeared to be live tissue, like muscle. I've included a picture. I only messed with her foot a little more just to make sure puss wasn't behind that but only a little blood began to show. I knew at this point I was into something I had no idea about so I wrapped her foot back up properly and I'm hoping it will heal over 😬
Does anyone know what's going on with her foot? I think she'll be ok, once it scabs over again, but damn, what is going on?

It's bumblefoot. You don't really want it to scab over. Apply a generous amount of Neosporin or other similar wound ointment and bandage to keep out dirt. In two days, unwrap the foot and check the wound.

If it has a very thin light colored scab, that's healthy. If a thick dark scab is forming, then you need to remove it and add more wound ointment and re-bandage. Check in another two days.

Bumblefoot that has bacteria still lingering will produce a dark scab. Healthy healing tissue will produce a tissue thin light colored scab. That will tell you the foot is healing.

Ok thanks. I do use lots of Triple Antibiotic ointment. I unwrapped her foot the other day and a light scab had formed so I think she'll be ok. I rewrapped the foot because it's a thin scab and I don't want it punctured but I think I'll let her go cast free by Thursday
