Shes had a poopy butt since saturday. I was watching her last night stand in the nest box, i was thinking she had to lay an egg but she wasnt sitting, does this make a difference?I took her out of the nest box and put her in the yard with the other girls and she just slowly went back in to the box. I brought her in since it was like eight o clock and was going to get dark soon, I sat her in the sink last night for over half hour with warm water, she was drinking plenty and ate some avacado. since it was evening i put her in a cage in kitchen and covered the cage all up and sat her on a heating pad. well she didnt sit at all she stood of course.

Shes up now but still just standing around lethargic like. I tried to get her to eat some eggs with olive oil but she snubbed it. Put some banana in also, but she is ignoring also. She is drinking water though. She pooped overnight it had a small amount of snotty material mixed in with some regular looking dark and white but it was kind of like fat pencil poops. I took that towel out and the one under really smelled like ammonia. Now i dont stick my nose straight to the droppings board every morning so i dont know if this is strange or not. I put a milk crate with hay in it in the cage and she just hopped in it now but once again standing not sitting with her eyes closed like in the coup last night. i have felt all around her abdomen area and dont feel any egg, does this even sound like her problem?

Thank you for any help

well shes sitting down now in the nest. i dont know if that makes a difference in anything. she pooped and it was runny and clear mostly from what i could see, and stinky.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer about your girl, but I'm pretty sure that avacado is poisonous to chickens. Good luck with your girl, I hope she gets better.

woah! i didnt know about the avocado! she oly had like a teaspoon though. she ate a little yogurt with a crushed up tums about 12 noon, and i just got home shes standing in the nest and she ate some oatmeal i put in there but wont get out. shes all puffed up just standing in the crate.

the more i read stuff the more i have no idea what is wrong with her if anything at all. im gonna feed her some turkey giblets, they never get meat so she may like it a lot. she keeps pecking at the oatmeal also. so shes eating and drinking just wanting to stand in the crate/nest and sleep. her crop isnt hard or too full at all either.

hmm sound's like it could be moniliasis. here's what my chicken boook says about it:

SYMTOMS: white cheesy substance in the crop; ruffled feathers; droopy looking; poor laying; white crusty vent area; inflamed vent area; increased appetite

HOW CONTRACTED: fungal disease; contracted through moldy feed and water and surfaces contaminated by infected birds. often occurs after antibiotic treatment for other resons.

TREATMENT: yes. ask a vet for nystatin or other antifungal medication. remove moldy feed and disinfect water containers. also feeding it plain non-fruit yogert gives it good bacteria in it's body. and you can also put athletes foot cream on it's vent to help clear it up. and putting garlic in their water helps kill the bad bacteria in their body

well lets see, her vent isnt inflamed at all. and shes not eating more shes just eating a bit. their feeder is clean as a whistle and the food is a fresh new bag. i clean the waterer out daily and just bleach scrubbed it like a week ago. im not sure if that fits or not. thank you for looking it up for me! i do not yet have a chicken book, this site is my chicken book!
