I thought this was a pullet ... now, not sure

Just based on how red the comb is for its age and I think I see some pointy saddle feathers coming in, I'm going to vote cockerel.

Optical illusion? I hope I'm wrong and those feathers are actually rounded.

It is a cockerel, sorry.

In your second picture dated June 27 his saddles are quite obvious.

So no need to stress your knee hobbling out to the coop for more pictures.

Good to hear that you are recovering.

I’m a complete noob, so take this with a big spoonful of salt - I watched a video about distinguishing hackle feathers and they were saying that with a pullet, the inside bit of the feather can look pointy but actually have a rounded shape. Thats what those hackle feathers look like to me.

Glad you are making progress! 👍 😊
Thank you so much!

I think the white chick is a hen because her hatch mate in May 20 pic has a bigger comb. But I’m not that good at sexing.
I thought the same but now ... 🤷🏼‍♀️ And I'm not that good either, especially with Eggers! Time will certainly tell though. I'll keep this thread updated so us noobies can learn together.

I have to say @LaFleche is one of the best at gender ID, so they're probably correct (darnit, lol!).
