I throw up every single time...

I thought I might post my experiance here, to see if any of you guys have any suggestions . Every Christmas, we go visit our relatives in Kentucky. They're really old- in their ninteys, and well, every time we go there, we throw up.

. We've tried everything- not eating their food, not drinking the water, not petting the cat. And, we can't exactly not go...it's something that we do every year, and they won't be around forever. Besides, all of our relatives are there, not just them. Does anybody have any suggestions on what we could try this year?

. They have a lot of beautiful land, and really old house...I love going there, and they're really nice...it's just the sickness.

Inside cat? It may be introducing germs from it's feces on surfaces in the home and when you touch those surfaces, you may be getting infected. I'd take some Lysol disinfectant wipes and discreetly wipe all surfaces you may touch in the home. The elderly can't always clean effectively and may need a little help.

For that matter, they may be unable to wipe their own selves without getting traces of BM on their hands and be leaving some E.coli germs around the place they live also.

A good cleaning and some bleach in the dish water wouldn't go amiss.

How long are you there before you get sick? Do you get sick while there or after you get home? Do any of your other relatives get sick? Thats kinda weird.

We're usually there 1-2 weeks. We get sick there. Usually my whole family gets sick.

I got SICK the first time I went to Mexico, so before I went the second time, I got antibiotics from my doctor to take before I left and while I was there.
Worked like a charm.

If you are getting sick every time you are there, have you tried cleaning the kitchen with a bleach solution. Or you could wipe things down with some of those Clorox wipes. I would also rewash all the silverware, and maybe even the dishes. If you wash the silverware, I would wash all of it, and the space where it's kept. Make sure wipe all the kitchen counters down with bleach, and don't forget the cutting board if there is one in the kitchen. I just remember that all the knives, plus any serving ware should be wash again too. So basically anything that comes into contact with food.

I would probably bring a bottle of bleach with me. From there you should wash all the door handles, and the flush lever on the toilet. I would tell my relatives that this was one of my gifts to them, so that there won't be hurt feelings. There is clearly some type of problem with their house. Bath towels can be a source of bacteria transmission. So I would re-

I would also continue to use bottled water while there, if they are on a well, it maybe contaminated. It is possible with a very old property, that the septic system is to close to the well.

If I think of anymore things that can be a source, I will let you know. And I am so sorry that you get sick every time. Still you are right that you should spend what time is left with them during the holidays.

yikes. thats awful. not fun. could you stay at a hotel. is their mold in their home. sounds like your going to another country. yikes.

I had to stop eating my sisters thanksgiving turkey ..

she believes in setting it out on the counter to thaw.. on the saturday BEFORE thanksgiving
and leaving it out the entire time until thanksgiving morning when she tosses it into the oven

everyone who eats it gets deathly sick




I know you said you don't eat the food so it's not the same for you..
do they have well water by any chance?
