I was tired from this week so I fell asleep in the chair and when I woke up my Grandma was calling on the phone saying someone had left a note on the door saying they were interested in buying a peacock. I called the phone # and I found out it was the mom of one of my friends. She said it was her 30th anniversary and her husband has chickens but she wanted to get him a peacock as a surprise. She told me she tried calling another peafowl breeder but they didn't pick up and when she told her daughter that she really wanted to get her husband a peacock, the daughter remembered that I raise peafowl and said to try seeing if I have anything for sale.
I told her she could have her pick of my two young peacocks so she told me she would be over in half an hour and I drove over to my Grandma's to get the two peacocks into a smaller pen for catching. Crooked Beak was easy to get into the pen but it was tough getting the other young peacock in there. I took out all the removable roosts in there to get ready for catching one of them.
When the lady showed up she seemed very nice and she said she was sorry for being late. She had trouble with her vehicle and she said her husband was at home ready to go out to eat. I answered a few of her questions and she said they would keep the peacock in with the chickens until they made a new pen for him. I told her just to be careful about blackhead. It sounds like they take good care of their chickens. She looked at both of the peacocks and decided she wanted Crooked Beak.
I am not used to catching birds so I use a big fish landing net. I caught Crooked Beak and I had trouble getting him into the box. He turned back around and flew out and I decided I didn't really like using the net. I don't like for them to get all their pretty feathers messed up! So Crooked Beak was tired from just being caught and probably a little confused so I walked up behind him and grabbed him with my hands. That worked REALLY well. I see why some people prefer catching birds with their hands and not a net. I put him in the box and I went to fold it up and tape it and the lady said, "Oh no if you just fold it like this it should be fine. Besides I live pretty close by." I still put one thing of tape on the end of the box because I could just picture the peacock bursting out of the box because it wasn't taped.
She said she would keep me in mind if they ever wanted another peafowl or had any questions.

I sold Crooked Beak, a 2012 peahen hatched male whose mother was Ice and father was Alto for $65.00. I wanted more for him but I went lower for several reasons.
