Me too! Crazy Cat Lady (7) and Chicken Whisperer (11).Hi my name is Deannie and I am Chickaholic. I started off simple with just the thought of wanting to get 3 chicks. The breeder I got them from told me she was going to give me 5 in case some of my bantams didn’t make it or in case I ended up with a couple Roos I would re-home elsewhere. Come the day I was to actually get them she ended up giving me 7 chicks (absolutely free, she is a coworker of my daughter). After having them a week we went to TSC to pick up more supplies and of course the have babies right next to the supplies, hubby says why don’t we get a couple more to make it an even 10, not knowing that they have a 4 chick minimum. We said ok we will take 4, so now we have 11. Another week goes by and same coworker says to my daughter does your mom want these fertilized eggs to try to hatch, a dozen, I said sure why not at this point, I means what’s 12 more at this point. So here I am, 11 live chicks five weeks in and 12 in the incubator… chicken math!
They're all so adorable! So, I thought I would give a little update on the success of my first incubation of a dozen eggs…
Three of the eggs were not fertile. I accidentally dropped one while candleing, bantam eggs are so little and those suckers are slippery soft, I was so upset about that as I’m pretty sure it was a good one but didn’t want to chance putting it back in. So that left 8 that ALL hatched!
I’m now chick mom to 19 chickens
I’m so in love with the new babies!

Don't worry, we all know bantams actually *reduce* your number of chickens; you divide your flock by a smaller number and carry the one and multiply by 1/3 so that maths. So, I thought I would give a little update on the success of my first incubation of a dozen eggs…
