I used too much DE in the coop and one of my hens is breathing badly

Thank you for all the replies, I really appreciate the advice and help you've given me.

I ended up taking her to the vets because I was pretty sure she was going to die without any help, though I thought most likely they'd just offer to put her to sleep. However she ended up dying whilst being checked over on the table. I was very upset which was embarrassing, but she was a much-loved pet.

My other chickens don't have anywhere near as many mites, but they're a little thinner than normal. I'm going to a feed store in a couple of hours to see if I can find a horse fly spray with the permethrin. I have the poultry shield and nutri drop coming tomorrow as well. Is there something I can give them to help them gain back some weight? Right now I'm going to thoroughly clean the coop whilst they're out dust-bathing in the sun.

..I just wanted to share some photos of Shinxi too, I hope that's ok. I feel so silly but she was a lovely hen. Is 8 fairly old for a backyard chicken?

Thanks again,

Nothing embarrassing about mourning a lost life, it means you’re human. :hugs You gave her a fighting chance and that’s all we can really do with our sick animals.
She was a beautiful bird, I wish you the best with the rest of your flock.
