Stopped in at Atwoods this morning and they had keets, ducklings, goslings and chicks. They were so tiny and unfeathered that they must have just got them in this morning OMG, they were SOOOOOO cute. But, I'm headed out of town for a few days so had no choice but to walk away

By the way, what breeds of chicken start out looking like chipmunks? Some of the chicks were chipmunks and I thought they were probably EE's but when I looked closer, I wasn't seeing the characteristic puffy cheeks so wondered what other breeds start out looking that way.

They were probally ee's, though hard to tell w/o seeing them. You have such control.

I have to go to Atwoods today for dog shampoo and also going to pick up some red heat lamp bulbs, since they were all sold out by the time I needed them for the last bunch of chicks.
I will not be buying chicks, keets, goslings, ducklings, or poults today.

I mean I would, but I'll have DH with me and he spoils all my fun.

You have more self-control than I. I would have brought home some keets for my hubbie for V-Day. He really like guineas and we don't have any.

ETA: The chipmunk ones could be a number of breeds - Leghorns, Partridge Rocks, Welsummers...

OMG, you just reminded me that TODAY is the start of Chick Season at my favorite feed store!

Luckily, it's 16 miles from my house and NOT anywhere along my route home from work. Actually, I only live 6.5 miles from work.

Hmmmm. Any reason for me to take a drive.... nah.... I get off work at 5:30 and they close at 6. Whew!

I bet they were EEs. I have an EE who is all grown up, lays green eggs and doesn't have chubby cheeks. They are mutts.
