I wanna Peacock!!

I was in the hospital after having a my son... I kept trying to get up to get him because I thought he was screaming. It was those crazy peacocks. It truly is a scary scream.

I helped out at a Girl Scout camp once that was just on the other side of the fence from a peafowl farm. I spent the whole weekend thinking one of my campers was lost and dying in the woods. Very nervewracking!

Even when watching the peahen make the noise, it raises the hair on the back of the neck it sounds so much like a woman screaming "help me!!!!" Freaked me out. They are mean, too. My Uncle used to raise them and I was attacked more than once at family reunions at his house as a child.

There's an old story I think I may have told once before on BYC.

My DH is a police officer, a patrol supervisor, meaning he is in charge of the officers on his shift (the night shift). In the town he works in there is a mansion and the people that own it keep several peafowl. Whenever they have a rookie, a new officer, on the force they like to pull a little prank on him/her. They assign that officer to patrol the area of town where the mansion is. Then DH and the other officers sit back and wait for the call on the radio. They wait for the rookie to call in to dispatch all freakin' out about some woman being murdered, when those peacocks start screaming.

I took my handicapped niece (8 yrs old)to a local zoo where the peacocks roam free... when they screamed she wet her pants she was so scared.

My neighbor down the road has one. Loud, destructive, roosts in the trees and refused to be put up at night, but an absolutely beautiful creature. I remember my grandmother never allowing the feathers in the house, something about being bad luck.
