I just don't feel like getting into big time chicken math, but I lost one pullet to a coon, so I'm down to 4. 2 would give the replacement an ally and friend growing up over the next few months, and would make integration to the rest of the girls easier. But, I just can't seem to find any way to get just two chicks -- guaranteed pullets.

Any ideas?

With only wanting 2, and a specific breed that have to be pullets, you really only have 2 choices:

- Buy local pullets that are "point of lay" and the gender is known. Shop around on craigslist.com, and quarantine new birds for 4-6 weeks. Eggs will come sooner.

- Buy a small minimum order of chicks from a hatchery and pay a lot more per bird, or bite the bullet on chicken math, buy 25 minimum, and sell 23 at 8 weeks old for $5 each. My Pet Chicken will ship as few as 3, I think.

Selling extra pullets is easy. Around here anything that lays an egg is sold in a matter of days.

get um from ideal poultry they have pullets in stock they are in the brown layer section but since you only want two they will send you like 15 roos for free and plus you have to order more than 25 dollars i would do ideal but you will have to sell the ones you dont want
