Just curious, but for how long will a goat produce milk? Do they go dry after a period of time even if you are milking them daily? Will they continue to give through a pregnancy?
Just a note, dont get a buck unless you can stand the smell of him peeing on himself and the girls and when you milk them, a buck around sometimes can offset the odor in the milk itself.
When I had a pair of Nubians, we send the girls down to the buck for stud service down the road from us...worked really well for us and our milk does not have a buck smell. Nor we wold have to deal with ornery buck LOL!
They would need to be bred every year or two to keep the milk supply going. I would not milk her a month before she is due so she can handle the kids' arrivals. Everyone has their own opinions on when and how often you should milk her during her pregnancy.
I agree with Gila Dog, those milk goats can tie you down unless you have someone to milk them while you are vacation or gone overnight.
