I Want A Rooster.

If you aren't in a rush, you could wait until you get a broody and then find fertile eggs. Sounds like you already know some sources. If all goes well you could have a couple options of cockerels to choose from. You'd have a better chance of getting to know the them since you'd have a longer observation period. Plus I think cockerels raised by broodies and among mature hens are more likely to have good manners. The saying "hen pecked" was started for a reason.

Toward some things, or toward people/hens/other boys? I know multiple people who have roos who wouldn't hurt a fly. Not an aggressive bone in their bodies. Not all roosters are jerks.
I think you may not have read the rest of my post.:)

I did actually, but when you said "who" they direct their aggression at my brain immediately jumped to people/other chickens, rather than predators or inanimate objects or something. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

All roosters are aggressive. It's who they direct their aggression at and why that makes or breaks the relationship between you and a rooster.
They are possibly not the ideal creatures to acquire on a 'I want' basis. A lot of people who acquire male chickens, often from hatching chicks (50% of which are likely to be male) find as chicks and young cockerels they are lovely creatures. Once they grow up they can't wait to get rid of them.
False: NOT all roosters are aggressive. Some have no aggression to direct toward anyone.

Roosters can be aggressive...depends on the situation.
Awww come on! If the aggression isn't there in the first place, it won't matter what the circumstances are.
Roosters are aggressive by nature. It doesn't make them bad. It doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be aggressive towards you. It doesn't mean they are not lovely creatures.

Let me rephrase.
They have the capacity to express that aggression...and may or may not do so depending on the situation.
Some have stronger aggressive tendencies than others, just like people. :D
