It's true I'm afraid. They need to be aggressive to compete with other roosters for mating opportunities.

Whenever you start saying ALL or Never.... well you are not quite right. Most roosters will be aggressive, at varying amounts. Depending on your circumstances, your space, your hens, your children, and your predators determines what a successful amount of aggression is a good deal.

Not all roosters are the same, and a rooster that would work well in one situation, might be a disaster in another.

Definitely get a Cockerel and toss him in and see what happens? If the Pullets/ Hens are the same age they will figure it out..
