I want some fruit

I want to plant fruit trees will our free range chickens in the neighborhood bother them? I lost my plums and my neighbor lost his peaches

I've never had chickens bother the fruit trees themselves if they are not just tiny twigs. They will however dig holes around the base in the disturbed earth and could damage the roots or even dig up a small tree. We usually put bricks/pavers or those rubber mats around the base of the new planting at surface level until they are too big for the chickens to bother. (Depending on your climate/area I could see them going after the leaves they can reach if there is not much greenery or food available for them and they are hungry.)

thx I just bought two Wine dots a Madagascar and a Red
star all chicks I'll let them range the yard after about 6 months growth so the American Game Bantams wont bother them
