I want to add to my flock in the spring. Wadda ya think?

I have 5 RIR, 3 Buffs, and 3 RIR/Buff mix Roos all are nice to the hens but the 2 on the bottom of the totem pole fight sometimes but the top one RIR doesn't really care for the other roos. They are all gentle to the hens and me! I really want to get some EE's and or a trio of Ameracana's for breeding!

I have 3 different ages in my flock right now, about 18 6-8 month old (about 7 roos and 11 hens), 15 4-5 month old (2-3 roos and 12 hens), then 13 that are 2-3 month old (1 roo so far and not sure about the others yet!) I bought them from a breeder the same day, they were cooped in different pens so when I put them togeather they were in 3 groups for about a week or so. None dead and all doing very well! They just take their time getting to know each other!

sounds great i have a mixed flock and love it. the kids love easter egg hunting. they calll it that because we always have different color eggs. they are even eggcited about the white ones lol.

Sound like a great plan to me. In my current flock, every single one of my chickens see a different breed.
