I want to buy an iPad but I am SO confused! Help??

We don't have an Apple store in town so I am headed out to Best Buy in a few minutes. they have Kindle, iPads and many others to look at. I'll report back later! thanks everyone.

I'm pretty much getting the Kindle Fire strictly for reading. And one of the only reason is that my library now offers all their books in Kindle format. Since there are no longer any used book store available to me I figure I can read a long long time before I ever have to purchase a book on it!! But I also like the face that with the Kindle if you have an Amazon Prime membership which is only $79 a year you can stream movies for free off it.

I like that too, but you can also do that with iPad. You can load Nook and Kindle onto the iPad. But if you are looking just for reading, then by all means....Kindle Fire is the way to go. I know I'll play some games and browse the web, post to forums, etc. But that's really about it. Might be handy to be able to use it as a GPS if I am on the road, for which I'd need 3G.

Yep... I just figure I spend $120 a month just in data fees now for 4 iPhones that I can't even think about adding to that!!

OK...I am back from Best Buy. I don't like the xoom at all...too thick. I LOVE iPad 2 and don't think I'd want the first gen iPad because it is thicker. iPad is already borderline heavy for using as a reader. I love the large screen though. I don't want (or need) 3G....I am not willing to pay that bill. I would, however, consider changing my phone to a smart phone and be able to use the iPad that way with just the wifi. That would save $$ on the purchase price. Still need to do more research along those lines. I looked at the Galaxy and liked it a lot too. There was also a small (kindle sized) tablet...HTC Flyer.....that's cheaper than the iPad at $299 but the best buy guy said that he has played with the Demo Kindle Fire their store got and it runs circles around the Flyer.

So.....I am still torn. On one hand, I'd love that kindle fire. It's a great reader and also good web browser (good...not great). But for $200, a very good deal. And with the $300 I save, I could buy a decent laptop for more serious web browsing.

The 2nd option is to buy an iPad. It's heaver and larger than a reader but boy is it slick!! Great web browsing, touch screen is awesome, it's VERY easy to use.

I need to think on this some. Thanks again for the opinions.

Android tablets are getting really good too. I have this one. It's a lot like an iPad but a bit cheaper. You might want to check it out if you aren't already overwhelmed by the options.
