Im looking at these chooks on an online auction site but I'm not sure what i want to pay. the owner doesn't know the breed and this is the only photo they have online (its not very good)
any ideas would be helpful (don't want to get another bad deal)
Cheers!

how old are they? does the seller tell that? cause they look like cockerels right now....if they are 17+ weeks then pullets if 12-13 i would say cockerels anything younger than 12 is 100% cockerel

they are barred cochins

she said they laid a few eggs (but maybe thats not true (I DONT NEED ANY MORE ROO's)
the last trade I did on this site i ended up with 2 hens with scaly mite and most off their chicks were roo's.
i will email her about age.

This is what the auction says

"These 2 bantams were abandoned by their mother when young so were raised by their father! They would perch inbetween his legs at night. They have now grown up a bit and laid the odd egg or so but are surplus to requirememts as mum is still reproducing. Will tame up ok and are very fond of scraps from the kitchen. The auction is for the pair. The brown backside of other hen not part of this auction."

Bantam Barred Cochin Pullets, ADORABLE!!!

They look to have decent type as well!

Yay 24 weeks old! are they a good breed? i read some reviews and they seem popular
Well, "good" how?
They're great eye candy.
Their feathered legs can be a huge pain in wet/rainy areas.
They're usually decent layers, not on a scale of production hatchery birds.
They tend to make great broodies.
