I want to buy true ameraucanas.. any suggestions?

So how you tell if it is a true ameraucana.
Is it they only lay blu-green eggs.

No, you do not tell if it is a true Ameraucana by it's egg color. The bird itself has to conform to the standard, which is found in the book American Standard of Perfection. In this book, each type of breed is identified as well as different varieties of the breed, ie: color or patterns.

Saying all chickens that lay blue or green eggs are Ameraucauna, is like saying all dogs with curly hair are poodles because they have curly hair.

Here is a link to the standard's info on the breed. http://www.ameraucana.org/standard.html All of these terms must be met in order for it to be a true Ameraucana. And if you mix varieties of true Ameraucanas, say breed a black to a blue wheaten, it no longer meets the standard, so is no longer a true Americauna.

Large vs. bantam... egg size and food intake.

Peachick in Maryland has W/BW Ameraucanas with blue blue eggs.

DipsyDoodleDoo.(Lisa) has some great BBS birds.

I bought ameraucana chicks yesterday from a local livestock auction. There is an older man there who has beautiful birds. Will post pics as they get older. I have EE's and these are solid color...blue, black and looks to be white. They have beards. The white ones almost have a purple sheen to them under certain lighting. We'll see as they get older....

I'm getting some Blue Wheaton Ameraucana (and some Blue Laced Red Wyandotte) chicks at the beginning of May! I am so egg-cited! I have some EE's so I guess if I get one roo out of that batch of BW Amer. I could theoretically have lots of EE's
