I want to buy true ameraucanas.. any suggestions?

i had this same conversation just last night with my friend catherine! she swears up and down that her chickens were auracanas. she had gotten rid of all the chickens last year, (her youngest has hydrocephalus, or had, and her shunt became infected and she needed surgury so some things , like the chickens, were too much to deal with) ANYWAYS ......she says she bought auracanas from some hatchery and they were real auracanas, they layed blue and green eggs, she knows they were . but i keep telling her that you cant really buy auracanas from hatcheries, they are too hard to mass produce, alot of places sell ees. i know cackle sells ees and they are nice birds they lay pretty tinted eggs but they are not auracanas. they dont try to act like or imply that they are auarcana or ameraucana. some places do, they even call there ees americanas, spelling it wrong to throw people off. i said maybe that was what she had because i remember the birds she is talking about, mixed in with her rirs, i tried to reason, but she will not hear it! she had auracanas and thats it! oh well, what can you do..........

Hi Lisa, Where are you located in Aiken??? I just got some EE's from Boots, Bridles and Britches, and a couple of Silkies from a lady in Chapin. Wish I would have known last week you had Silkies. I may be interested in some Ameraucanas though! Do you know of anyone locally that has Polish Crested or Blue laced red wyandottes?

Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I have the WBS Variety, am a member of the ABC, and am listed as a breeder on their list. You didn't mention which variety you were interested in. Feel free to email me if you'd like.

God Bless,

I think she has easter eggers too. The hatching eggs I got where a pale blue-green and she even marked them EE even though the sheet said that EE = Ameraucana/Araucana. Adorable little chicks though

Ah yes, Exit 18 territory! Howdy Neighbor. I live off of Pine Log on the southside near Town Creek Baptist Church. Mind you my chickens will be at my daughters off exit 11 on the Aiken/Trenton line.

Who cares what breed it is as long as the egg color is what you desire? You're after a blue egg, right? Just get a bunch of hens and see what they lay. Breed birds from blue eggs or whatever.... or go buy blue hatching eggs.

I believe that they are. I think that MPC gets them from Julie Gabbard. Please, someone correct me if I am wrong.

MPC do not have pure Ameraucanas. MPC and Julie Gabbard have EE. Not knocking anyone, but they are not pure...sorry.

Stick with ABA or ABC website. They are breeders and raiseres of pure Ameraucanas.
