I want to get baby Chicks

So I want to get some Brahma hens and a rooster.
I am considering getting some chicks.
Problem I don't know of any local places to get them.
The local feed store only has sex links, barred rocks, and I think they have some other breed that I cannot recall right now.
Anyone have any tips?

If the feed store deals with a hatchery that has the breeds you want, they should be able to special order in 5-10 chicks for you. (most will not deal with less than 5). They are going to make more $$ off of you on feed so they tend to bend over backwards getting the chicks you want to create loyalty. Some hatcheries shut down by July or severely cut back on selection so don't wait any longer to get your order in. If they don't have eggs incubating you could be out 3-4 weeks before you get chicks.

Hello all! I want to get chicks for my first time raising chickens!

I was under the impression that I should wait until next spring ( its June now) .

But......I saw that I could get some this August.................. For a first time chick and chicken raiser---

would I be okay to get chicks in August raise them in the fall ----will they be okay in the winter as they are still relatively young?

I live in PA so it gets cold but its not Canada..........

I am just wanting to get 2-3 bantams at this time.

Keeping it a smaller project.........

what do you think???
