I want to move the hen's roost.

I want to move my roost to the other side of my open coop, I was wondering if they will freak out if I take down the old roost and let them figure it out. I have already put in the new one and they don't seem to be interested.

They will figure it out. They will complain about it as they will about any change or at least discuss it thoroughly but I wouldn't call it freak out.

Chickens HATE change. If it's in a different spot or if something looks different, they don't like it. Give them time and they'll eventually use the new one.

Have you physically moved them to the new roost after dark? Certainly works with youngsters.

When I decide to change something up in one of my coops, I do it for my convenience, ease. I don't ask them first, lol. They will adjust.

I've changed and modify the roosting bars a few times the last two months - it's quite entertaining to hear them screaming and settling during roosting time the day change occurred (I have a baby monitor in the coop). By the second day, they'd figure out the change was for the better!
