The humidity here is terrible! And it does get very hot. Although winter is mild it is very inconsistent. Warm for a few days, cold for a few days, warm again. Drives me nuts!

If you are going to move to NC, try closer to Mt. Airy. I think that they have more moderate summers. Plus, it is a beautiful area and the town has that friendly, southern charm. I'd love to live in Mt. Airy. Sigh

It takes me about four hours to get to Asheville, NC from here and a couple hours to Mt. Airy. Wilmington, NC is a couple of hours away. Certainly not long drives if you want to spend time in either the mountain's or by the beach. Ashboro has a wonderful zoo.

If you just need to get a way then go on a nice vacation. I wouldnt reccomend moving if you just want to "get away" for a bit only if you really really want to move and/or get away for a while. Maybe buy/rent a second/vacation house or property somewhere and go there occasionally. New England is nice, I live there. I like the Carolinas, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, etc.

Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, New York, Pennsylvania are all nice too and so is out west and mid west/middle of country but I live in New England/the east and I like that too so idk.

I always thought Denver, CO would be a great place to live - I loved it out there. Or is that too city - maybe surrounding areas?
Pennsylvania's not so bad - quite humid though and the top half gets pretty cold.
Personally, I'd like to live somewhere drier and a bit more city.

I grew up in Rensselaer, it's about halfway between Lafayette and Gary, or halfway between Chicago and Indianapolis. Home of St. Joseph's College, go Pumas!!

I think what your asking for is Northern California.

And I say if you gotta get out of town then go! Pack as many lives as you can into this one and have fun doing it.
