I am so torn on whether to kill it, or accept it as nature and prepare better for the future. The hard part about preparation plans is really all these abnormal weather conditions so many places are undergoing recently. It's crazy.Welcome to BYC. Be prepared - the predator will return.
Martha knows her home spot/shed!! But like I said, in the peak of summer heat they liked to hang out by the pond every other night. They were safe. This summer has been incredibly DRY. Tonight I removed the barrier between her and her babies as they live within the same structure.I am so sorry for the loss of Jonathan Kent. He was beautiful.Have you figured out how to keep Martha Kent in safely from dusk onwards? Maybe if she has the ducklings, she will stay in with them. I am not a duck person but perhaps some of the duck people can answer better. If you don't get enough of an answer here, try the Duck Forum.
Best wishes for all your remaining ducks, and all your plans!
