I was told this rooster was a silkie

I recently bought a property and I inherited the flock from the previous owners. They told me it was a silkie, but they were pretty new to chickens too. I think there is a silkie hen, so maybe they were confused. I dont know where they got it though. I may see the previous owners in a couple weeks and I will get more info! If you don't mind me asking, what is the tell-tale sign that it is a cochin? Is it the round poofy shape?

Yup , a bantam cochin and a mighty nice looking one in deed !
The shape and the tail gives it away that its a cochin for sure.He has great form.

I have never saw a cochin of that color before so my guess would be he is from a mixed color flock.

If you post a pic of his feet and spurs we might be able to guess at the age. Old prime or young. It can be hard to guess the age. Some of the main cochin features are the "bun or cussion tail" and feathered feet. here is a pic of one of mine he had a better tail before the fox snuck up on him
