I thought it was the slightly older roo crowing until i saw my bantam cochin crow this morning. . Here's my question, it is not as long as most crows even when they first start to crow.. Can a pullet mimic a crow because she hears one doing it? Or is it very out of ordinary? I know i have heard that hens can crow when they lose a roo in flock and take over as the head etc

Its the white one i saw crow. I thought she was a she.. I purchased from assorted at a tractor type store. .. I guess i am really thrown off b/c i have a slightly older bantam cochin roo who literally i was able to sex before i had him one whole month .. I purchased him the sunday after Thanksgiving. . Second pic, here is he the buff colored one would only make him what two weeks older and see how much more roo like he is.

Yes, a female can crow... but, to identify your birds... how old are they? that's the biggest question.

Ok, forget me... I saw when you purchased them.

Ok, can you get a very clear shot of the white one from the top and from the side? under natural lighting. White feathers are harder to read. And a less blurry pic of the buff. I will say that from what I can see, I'm gonna wager the guess that they're both cockerels.

the white one looks like my rooster did when he was younger and that's how he looked when he started crowing. still the year of the rooster for another week

you either have a hen that is just coming of age and having some hormonal swings and will stop crowing once it all gets sorted or you have a young rooster coming of age that you thought was a hen or you have a hen that has some kind of reproductive imbalance, like an ovarian tumor that is causing a rise in male hormones.

Yes. I will. They move so much. I was just Judging gender off of the slightly older of the same breed. Heres a photo of the more obvious positive roo at almost a month here, His combs more noticeably a roo even at 1month than the white one who is older than him that I thought was a pullet until this morning.. Regardless of breed, now i know i cant generalize as easy. LOL

Hang on i know this isnt clear i will take one brb but you can see feathers shape i guess it is a little fluffier than most pullets. I also dont see the typical roo roo waxy appearance texture on feathers like most roos would have by now but im unfamiliar with white birds. Brb
